The American Samoa Democratic Party (ASDP) was established and incorporated in 1993 during the administration of Governor A.P. Lutali one of numerous Democratic leaders throughout American Samoa’s political history. The Party has served as a vehicle to organize, unite, and empower people across American Samoa around shared democratic values and collective action.

The mission of the American Samoa Democratic Party is to associate, unite, organize, and establish common political, social, and economic objectives that expand freedom and meaningful participation in public life. 

We work to ensure that every individual has the opportunity to engage in the political and governmental affairs of the Territory by proposing, promoting, advocating for, and advancing governmental policies, programs, and activities consistent with the philosophy of the National Democratic Party, while remaining grounded in the social, economic, and political values and aspirations of the people of American Samoa and in accordance with the U.S. Constitution and applicable laws.

The Party also exists to nominate and support candidates whose leadership and vision reflect the principles and general philosophy of the Democratic Party, and to assist local inhabitants, organizations, and associations by providing meaningful service that strengthens our communities.

Rooted in service, participation, and accountability, the American Samoa Democratic Party continues to work toward a more inclusive, just, and democratic future for our islands.
